    Word 2000 - VB code for numbering (WORD 2000)

    Often we need to attach documents to pleadings that we have not created. (i.e. medical records, payroll records, etc.) The court requires that we consecutively number each page of these documents, i.e. 001, 002, 003. Sometimes we can get up to 200 and 300 pages that need to be numbered. Is there a way that Word, using #5667 size labels will print these consecutive numbers on the labels without having to manually type in each number?

    You actually don't need a macro. You can use SEQ fields.

    Create a new sheet of the 5667 labels. In the first cell, put this field code:

    { SEQ pnum r 1 # "000" * MERGEFORMAT }

    In all other label cells, (after row 2 you can copy and paste rows) put this field code:

    { SEQ pnum # "000" n }

    You don't actually type the {}, just press CTL+F9 and then type the text in between the braces that Word put in

    As a footnote to Bryan's post, you change the number following the r switch to start at that specific number.

    You're quite welcome. Don't forget about jscher2000's footnote.

    Changing thestarting number has come in handy for me on more than one occasion.

    Jefferson, Thanks for the tip about starting number switch. I surely appreciate the quick reply -- and helpful info that you supply. This WOPR lounge is the very best in Office support. Thanks, again! [img]/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif[/img]
