    Windows Media Player

I'm still running Windows 95 and I'll probably not upgrade until I decide to get a new computer. Given that, I have Media Player 6.4 running and keep getting a message that an upgrade to version 7.00.00.1954 is available. Problem is, when I go to Microsoft's site I can't find it. Even a search finds zero results. I'm getting a lot of "check path" messages when I try to access content online from various sites - broadcasts, music, etc. so I thought the upgrade might help. Any suggestions?

Q268148 : Description and Availability of Windows Media Player 7 infers (by lack of reference) that it may not be supported on W95.

I'll see if I can find any more on that . . .

Windows Media Player 7.1 System Requirements would suggest Windows 98 as a minimum.

I know they list 98 as a minimum for 7.1, but given the upgrade message is referring to version 7.00.00.1954, I thought there actually might be such an animal somewhere. Of course that assumes that the upgrade checker is recognizing that I'm running 95. I dunno . . . . ?????????

You are, of course, still talking about a Micro$oft product. The company where the left hand rarely knows what the right hand is doing, has done or will do in the future. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
