    File in Use (Not) (97)

Can anybody tell me how to open a file that claims to be in use when it is not? Every now and again this comes up. An Access database (in this case it's a 97 one on a Win 2000/Win NT network) claims to be in use and will not allow itself to be opened either for normal use or for its objects to be imported into another database. There is no LDB file. On this occasion I am able to use the Computer Management tool in Win 2000 to see who has what files open on the network and the file is not listed as being open. The database is not listed as being read only.

Exactly what error message are you getting? And does the repair process fix it? If not how are you recovering the database?
