Placing template on a tab in Word 2000 (2000)

I have a related question on Templates. In both O2K and OXP templates are stored in P...F...Microsoft OfficeTempates1033. All the templates are in this one folder but there are many tabs (General, Letter & Faxes,...). How does Word create the tabs? Specifically, I want to copy a template from another PC into the Letters & Faxes tab, but I can't get it to show up there after it's been pasted into 1033.
    Thanks,
    Howard

Most of the built-in tabs in the File|New... dialog are "virtual," as described in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - Q210884 WD2000: General Questions and Answers About the Location of Word 2000 Templates. To add a template to one of Word's virtual tabs, try the procedure described in numbered point 5. Does it work?

    Bingo!
Worked like a charm. Thanks for the KB reference. Any idea how Word "virtualizes" the tabs? Sounds like fancy footwork in the code.

My guess is inside the registry. On my version of Word 2000 I have a registry area called HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTInstallerComponentsB9BE92CC2CB71D 119A12000A9CE1A22A which seems to contain all the necessary information.

I'm guessing it would be possible to delete a key there to remove its entry but it looks complicated enough that I would never want to add one there. Naturally all the usual warnings about registry hacking apply here so I just know you won't be playing there. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Thanks for the reply. Took a lok at that key, just for kicks. You are correct, I absolutely do not want to go there.
I'm curious about one other thing. Do you know the significance of the folder name 1033?

1033 is the Locale ID for US English.

I just did a quick search on the Microsoft web site for a list of these numbers, the first one I found was at http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....l/vsmscLCID.asp
