Profile Password

Been meanin' to ask this question for some time and keep forgetting. For the life of me, I don't remember if it's always been thisaway or not! When I go in to my OWN profile to make a change of some kind, in spite of having been there before and entering my password AND verify password, the verify password box always has more asterisks in it than the password box does. Is this intentional or is something wrong with mine?

The passwords are encrypted for your further protection - that's why it looks longer. Don't worry - either way will work.

Quoted from Mum in the referenced thread.

Trouble in my case is that the password box has the correct number of asterisks and the verify password box has several more. I didn't count 'em, but it forces me to type my password in the verify box every time I change my profile. Oh well, as long as it's "expected behaviour," I'm certainly not complaining 'bout good security.

Hey Al, you changed your id pic, I miss your smiling face. Re: the password security encryption, it is very common on major sites, at least those I am connected with relating to work. Keeps us protected.

Oh, it's just temporary. I wanted to keep a "focus" on the fact that September 20 is POW-MIA Remembrance Day, at least in the thinking of the U. S. Department of Defense. Since I now spend frequent time visiting at a nursing home nearby that is full of veterans of several conflicts and I feel duty-bound to help them help everyone remember the "ones who never came back!" On the 21st I plan on putting my ol' ugly mug back on The Lounge. Help me (us) remember, folks.....

And, if you really want to shed a tear as well as make someone feel especially good, it you know a veteran of the Vietnam era, give him or her a big hug, pat on the back and say: "Welcome Home, Brother (Sister)!" I promise you, you'll both cry tears of joy. I just did it with a guy this afternoon and now I have a NEW friend!

Camtech's PasswordReveal indicates this to be an encrypted version of your regular password, so the algorithm applied will determine a result differing in a set of characters.
