    Winfax

What other programs do any of you recommend for faxing? We have been using Winfax, but continually run into problems. It does not recognize the printers and I also uninstalled an old version, then went to install the newer version and it said that I had to reboot the system, which I already did. I rebooted 3 times and still got this message and it will not allow me to install the program!!!

It has to run along with a software program we have for shipping and receiving.

    Any suggestions? <img src=/S/bubbles.gif border=0 alt=bubbles width=31 height=17>

    Can you expand on

    >>It has to run along with a software program we have for shipping and receiving

    ??

We used to use Winfax as it was so easy to use and you could use macros to extract the recipient number from Word and Excel documents and fax automatically. However, the enormous memory overhead and server problems eventually became too much.

We currently have and use Relayfax which can also be automated using VBA. It is email based - incoming faxes come into your inbox as attachments, outgoing use smtp.

    Re: Winfax

We have a software program for shipping our product. After we have shipped the product we fax a passing to the customer by clicking on a button in the program - this activates Winfax and the passing is faxed through it.

    Re: Winfax

OK - so what is the link between the button and Winfax?
Does your software automatically recognise Winfax, or do you simply define what your fax 'printer' is in its setup?
How do the variables get passed to Winfax?

I'm wondering whether this may be more of a question for your shipping software - in other words, can your shipping software accept any fax software?

    Re: Winfax

We have contacted our software people and they said that the only fax programs that they use are Winfax and Zetafax. I believe that they have it set up that it automatically recognizes Winfax. Oh well, we will keep plugging away with it.
