    Opening files

When I double-click on a file in Windows Explorer and the associated program is already running the file opens and the program comes to the front and is active. When my father double-clicks on a program and the associated program is running the program's icon on the menu bar just flashes and he has to click on program to bring it active. He is annoyed by this. Any suggestions???

I assume you are not talking about two profiles on the same computer?
(And that you meant your father double-clicks on a file, not a program?)

I suspect it may be a memory problem - can you give more info on the systems in use and the actual program/file being launched?

I suspect that he/someone has run TweakUI (or some other tweaking program) and set it so that applications do not steal focus. Use the tweaking application to reverse the process.

Thank you very much 2 star. Getting Tweak UI did solve the problem. He didn't have tweak in the beginning to mess it up but for whatever reason that particular installation of Windows prevented stealing focus.
