Text Repeats in Printed Table (Word 2000 sr1)

I have a table with three columns and one row. Each cell holds several pages of text. The purpose was to create a side-by-side comparison of three documents. The problem is that some on some pages the last line of text in a cell repeats in the first line of text on the next page of that cell. This only appears on the printed file; onscreen, it looks fine. This happens in different columns throughout. How do I get this to print without the repeating text?

If the problem occurs only in print, not on screen, I'd bet it is a problem with the printer driver.

Perhaps an updated driver, or another driver for the same printer, won't show the problem.

Checking the print drivers is worth doing, but may not cause the problem to go away - I've recently come across the same problem in a Word 2000 document (on a network with supposedly up to date print drivers). Word just seems to have a hard time keeping tracking of pagination when you have content in parallel table columns, which spans several pages.

If at all possible, try to divide the content into several rows, rather than having them all in one row.
Also, sometimes a slight adjustment to the top and bottom page margins may finesse this problem.
Another thing to check is to ensure that the setting for showing hidden text is off.

Pretty much what Gary has already said, the first thing I would have checked is always the Printer settings and margins - the Printer has default margins of its own, usually when printing "outside" these margins a message appears when you send to print asking if you are aware the margins are outside of normal settings, clicking Yes always solves the problem for me, which is one I am familiar with relating to tables and columns. Good luck.

Thank you all for your assistance! After checking drivers and margins, I found that taking the 'space after' setting to 0 (from 12) resolved the problem.

    Thanks again.

Well done, often it is always something simple missed. I know from experience! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
