    Internet Explorer Favorites (5.5)

I have so many favorites that it is getting impossible to organize them. When adding a new one, of course, it puts it at the bottom of the list. I then have to go to Organize and SLOWLY drag each one into the position that I want. I read that there "should" be a right click to sort by name, but mine does not have it. I wonder if there is a 3rd party program that can let me organize the favorites like I want to.
    Thanks,

The right-click option should be available when you view the Favorites menu - before you choose Organize...

If you hold down the Shift key while you click both the Favorites menu and Organize Favorites, it will open in an Explorer window. Then you can make a few folders and organize your Faves that way.

    Also...

If you drag the icon to the left of the URL up to the Favorites menu, the menu will open and you can drag the link wherever you want in the list. The cursor will be one of those "Do Not" symbols while you drag it up there (you know - the circle with the line through it) but when you hover over the Favorites menu, it will open properly.

Phil & others....when I right click on the shortcut to (with the favorites open on the left), I do get a submenu but Sort is not one of the
options. I tried to take a snapshot of the screen at the time, but the submenu goes away and would not be in the pix.
Must be something turned off ?
    Thanks

Click on "Favorites" on the main menu - not the toolbar icon that opens up your favorites in a separate pane.
If you right-click within the drop-down list, you are offered "Sort by Name" as an option.

Thank you Leif. That is what I was doing wrong. Only one problem now. Woody's comes at the end of the list instead of where
I really wanted it (at the top). Since my favorite list has over 50 folders and even more files, I still have to use the Organize to get
Woody's back to the top. What they need in organize is a "Move" instead of dragging it upward, which takes forever.
    Thanks all.

Well, you could always prefix "Woody's Lounge" with a zero so that it floated to the alphabetical surface . . .

(Don't forget the list is looped - you can up-arrow to get to the bottom of the list.)
