    Exclusive access

I put together a really simple Access application for a client. The MDB file is installed on a Novell File Server so that the data imported into the MDB would be backed up regularly. The app is only accessed and used by one person from one PC. This person has rights that allow for file creation (among other rights) in the directory in which the file is installed.

The user needs to modify a report. When he opens the report in design mode he gets an error message "You do not have exclusive access...changes will not be saved." He can open queries, tables and forms in design mode and does not receive this message. Do you have any idea why he may be getting this message?

    Re: Exclusive access

Get your user to go to Tools/Options/Advanced and tick Default open mode - exclusive.

Make sure the user doesn't have a table or query open that is part of the report's recordset and make sure the locking scheme is set to No Locks.
