    e mail on outlook (MS 2000)

    I have a friend in Paris sending me the same message 4 mnutes after I delete it. Is it her or me?

    Four minutes after the one she previously sent, or 4 minutes after you delete it regardless of when it was sent. (Scenario #2 would be pretty spooky.)

    There are some viruses that watch a user's behavior and send a follow-on message to the same recipient after the user sends a real mesage. Have your friend scan her computer just in case.

    It is possible that opening an HTML-format message causes script or other code to run on your computer. Make sure you have set your Outlook security settings: (1) Outlook opens mail in the Restricted Zone; (2) In Internet Explorer's security settings for the Restricted Zone, everything is set to disable. If these are plain text messages, then this is not the issue (but you should have those settings anyway).

    It also is possible that the two mail servers had a miscue and the first server re-sent the message. If it's happening every time your friend sends a message, I would ask your ISP to investigate what's going on.
