    Installing Office upgrade (Office XP)

I had Office XP Special Edition Upgrade (Upgraded from Office 97) installed on my desktop. I just had my desktop itself upgraded with a new motherboard, CPU, memory, and hard drive. Now, I cannot reinstall Office because it cannot find a qualifying program on the disk.

I still have the OLD Drive C (now called Drive J) and it has the original Office 97 upgrade on it. I pointed the installation program to it to find the qualifying product, but that did no good. All of the files that were on the original Drive C (including the Office files) are still on the machine in Drive J, but the installation program does not recognize them.

I have moved and no longer have my prior Office 97 disk to put in the machine.

Is there some way to get Office XP to recognize the old version of Office 97 so that I can perform my upgrade again?

Also, once I get this fixed, am I going to have a problem authenticating or registering the product since the computer has changed so dramatically?

    Thanks.
