Date/time picker (DTPicker) (EXCEL 97/2000)

Added a DTPicker control to an EXCEL sheet to allow users to simply select date's ('ala Outlook' etc.). I have a problem and a question...

Problem: I sized the object to a cell. If I load my sheet, the object-position is messed up. As soon as I minimize and re-maximize my window, things are OK again. I wonder why this happens and how I can fix that
Obviously using VBA would allow me to quickly minimize and restore on sheet load, however I don't yet use VBA for this sheet so the 'root-cause' and non-VBA solutions are appreciated!

Question: It seems I can set almost everything (colors, background color, fonts) for this control; what I cannot find however is how to set the font color of the display when the control is not opened ("not in drop-down status") (so the date displayed in 'default' inactive operation).. Anyone?

Thanks,

Erik Jan

So that is not the Calendar control, is it?

No, its "Microsoft Date and Time Picker Control 6.0 (SP4)" (ActiveX)

PS. Where the "Date" part is what I use it for, I've yet to find the "Time Picker" part

I cannot reproduce your problem about the repositioning.

I guess the colours you got is what you must put up with.

You can either use the control for dates or for times. To get the Time version, set the Format property to the third option: 2 - dtpTime

For the colours: too bad.. but, so be it...

Wrt reproducing: I just created an ampty WB, added the control. Used Alt-drag to size & fit it to a cell and... bingo. The thing did it again! A simple minimize/maximize fixes it... try it like this yourself or use the attached file...

Re: Date/time picker (DTPicker) (EXCEL 97/2000)

That is odd... I tested this @work on Excel2000 (the latter also with startup-switch /s, indicating "EXCEL safe mode" and thus disabling all add-in's, startup folders and other customizations I might have active).
At home, I have WinXP/Excel2002 and also there the problem shows up...

Maybe you have something running that makes this work OK for you (maybe a VBA module that maximizes and/or restores the window?)?

Could others please try my previous attachment too? Basically what I see directly after opening is a misaligned control (control is higher than it is wide), and some ghost image of the control behind that. As soon as the screen is rebuilt (e.g. after a window maximize), things are 'fixed' and the control aligns nicely with cell borders (control is wider than it is high).

I'd appreciate any suggestions...

No window changing VBA on this end.

Hi!

I'm having exactly that problem also - did any solution ever show up in 2002?

Regards,
Michael.

Re: Date/time picker (DTPicker) (EXCEL 97/2000)

I believed at that time I worked around it (and have been avoiding the control since that time... ). Some people couldn't reproduce (I even think no one could), so I defaulted to thinking it was either me or my system. I'm not aware of a solution.

Sorry,

Erik Jan
