    Text box - Read only? (2000)

    OK, I'm not sure if this is the right forum or if I should be posting to VBA, but since it's something I'm doing specifically in Access, here goes.

    I have managed to import descriptive fields (type memo) from Excel into an Access table. These were multiline cells in Excel and so contain the ASCII character 10 as internal linebreaks. I am playing with how to display these fields, in their multiline format, in a form. The only control I can find to do it properly is the MS Forms 2.0 Textbox ActiveX Control. The normal textbox and label can't interpret the linebreaks correctly.

    What I'd like to do now is to make the textbox "appear" like a label on the form. That is, be the same b/g colour as the form, have a thin border, but most importantly, not allow the cursor any ability to "enter" the box. This means not only a "read only" status, but an inability to even highlight text.

    I recall a way of doing this in an older version of VB, so I presume there is equivalent code appropriate to doing it in Access. Any help appreciated.

    thanks

    Alan

    Set these properties for the textbox:
    Enabled = False
    Locked = True
    BackStyle = Transparent
