Insert exact same text inbetween every line (Excel 2000)

We have a sreadsheet that has thousands of lines of text. We need to insert after each line the exact same information. It must be between each line. Is there a quick way to do this?

Add a column and populate successive rows with 1, 3, 5, etc down to the last row of your data. Add rows beneath your data (same number of rows as you have lines of text), and number them 2, 4, 6, etc. , with the required inserted info in each column. Sort the data based on the 'sequence' column that you inserted, then delete it.

Very cool idea, Colin! You just put 10 VBA programmers out-of-business! --Sam

I suspect you also wanted to add that the text cells have to be copied and pasted beneath the original ones.

I didn't really explain it too well, but that's what I meant by the part about "the required inserted info". I further confused things by saying "in each column", when I meant "in each row". Thanks for the clarification.

Re: Insert exact same text inbetween every line (Excel 2000)

Thanks. I often find that using an inserted sort column can be really helpful. Sometimes in examples like the above, where the required ending sequence is different from the starting sequence. More frequently, though, I use it to record an original sequence; sort to group 'like' rows together; modify the contiguous rows in some way; then sort back to the original sequence (which I always think of as being similar to the technique for solving Rubik's cube, but that's a different story...)
Regarding the original question, of course, the sorting technique would be way quicker than inserting rows.

Another shortcut if the text is the same for each row, then you can select all of the cells, type the data once and press <Ctrl>+<Enter>. This enters the data into each cell in the selection. --Sam

Thanks. I use sequenced lines all the time but didn't even think of using it for this project. Thanks again. This will save a lot of time on future projects also.
