Broken Link MSKB

Can't link the following URL http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;[LN];Q241234. When I put in in a thread in XP several times, it displays incorrectly and goes to another KB. When I put it in here two hours ago, it worked; now it goes to a dead end at MSKB. Would appreciate knowing how to fix it. All the other links to MSKB work fine.

Certain MSKB links do not contain a language; instead, they have the [LN] placeholder. I think there was a suggestion further down on the board about substituting something else for that. In this country, en-us is the regional language identifier. However, en also works, as does fr. Just as long as you don't put [square brackets] inside a <!t>[url=http://etc.]<!/t> tag, everything will be just fine. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Dave--Thanks. But aren't you and Jefferson having to manually redo the link instead of just pasting it in from the address bar, and if so what rule or convention are you following, because
the link I tried to use when I found the same KB was different than the one you all are using.
The scid=KB;EN-US;Q241234& are different if you look at them so do I have to examine every link--most I'd say 95% work well as is and modify them and if so, what's the rule here?

As noted above, you cannot use the ] character after the = in a <!t>[URL=...]<!/t> tag; the script interprets it to mean "end of URL." If you have such a URL, your options are:
<UL><LI>Edit the URL so that it is valid without the ] character.
<LI>Put the URL between <!t><!/t> and <!t><!/t> tags.[/list]While it is inconvenient that the script reads the ] as the end of the URL, it would be even more inconvenient to have to always use " marks around the URL (as in HTML), given that the problem is so rare.
