    Here is an almost-solution that might be available to you. I have taken some rolls of film to be developed at Walmart and chose to have them saved on CD-ROM. The service they use puts the JPG images (in both 'preview' and 'good' formats) on a disk that also contains Microsoft's Picture It! Express. When inserted, the cd's autorun checks to see if PIE is installed; if not, it will automatically start the installation process; if it is installed, PIE runs automatically and loads the images. (This little feature is something I despise <img src=/S/puke.gif border=0 alt=puke width=60 height=15>, but it does make it convenient for less-technically-oriented users.)

    (If you don't want to install the software the auto-installation can be cancelled and the images viewed through any other software that is available on the pc.)
