Multiple copies (Office 2000 SP2)

Belarc reports that I have several files for Office 2000 Premium - Versions 9.0.3509; Version 9.0.3720 and Version 9.0.3822. I have the latest one in Add/Remove only. How do I fix this, if it is a problem. I can't tell which one I'm using. Should I remove Office completly and start fresh using the CD? I believe that the CD is an earlier version, if so how do I update? I just started using Office and I really need some help with this.

(Edited by jscher2000 on 19-Sep-02 19:07. I made a mistake, [doh]!)
I've never heard of Belarc. Does it tell you precisely which Office 2000 applications have those build numbers? It could be that with various security patches applied, they get out of sync. It seems almost inevitable, in fact. But if the program doesn't report which application has which number, we won't be able to cross-compare.

I just installed SP2 and the August 2001 Outlook security patch, and my build number for Outlook, according to Help|About... is 9.0.0.5414, while my build number for Word is 9.0.4402.

It's full name is Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit. It's a PC Audit. it gives info on Hardware, software, licence keys, MS Hot Fixes,...

You can find out more about it here.

My run of Belarc gives me this:

    Microsoft Office 2000 Version 9.0.3508
    Microsoft Office 2000 Version 9.0.3720
    Microsoft Office 2000 Version 9.0.6328
    Microsoft Office 2000 Version 9.0.6508

No other info. All my Help|About give me Version 9.0.4402 SR-1.

I know this is of no help, but confirms that you are not alone.

Belarc is a well-known program, but don't start deleting things based on Belarc, as Belarc cannot know what versions should be.

If you suspect something is wrong with Office run Office's built-in Repair facility.

Re: Multiple copies (Office 2000 SP2)

Belarc is really named Belarc Advisor and it's one of the few Free programs that I can't and won't be, without.

It names your OS, Processor,Main Circuit Board, Drives, Network Drives, Logins, Installed Microsoft Hotfixes, Printers,Controllers, Bus Adapters, Communications, Display, Multimedia, Other Devices, Software Licenses, and every Software Program with the versions. I suggest that you take a look at it and tell me if it is one you can do without.

To answer your question, No - It only lists the program, the version number and where it's found on your computer.

When in doubt, it's best to leave things alone and I'm taking my own good advice. Thanks for trying to help me.
