Tell us more, new machine, one you just built or did it just start happening?

Have you added or removed any hardware?

Did you make changes to the BIOS and/or registry?

    And etc?

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

new mainboard, 256DDR, and athlon1600+, blue screen almost every time at start-up..... if I restart often enough system boots normally
and runs well even during heavy game play, have tried changing ram + changing ram slot no fix is lasting, have updated all drivers

Have you checked for a BIOS update? Was the motherboard supposed to be XP compliant?

    Doni--
I was thinking your problem would be solved possibly by updating your bios or "flashing your bios." It's easy to do, and the correct procedure is found on your firmware manufacturer's site--it takes very little time and a few steps--forgive me if you already did this:
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    |Upgrading to Windows XP
This section describes an upgrade to Windows XP from Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), and Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

NOTE: Before you begin the upgrade process, obtain and install the latest BIOS upgrade for your computer from the computer's manufacturer. If you update the BIOS after you upgrade the computer, you may have to reinstall Windows XP to take advantage of features such as Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) support in the BIOS. If possible, update the firmware in all of your hardware devices before you start the upgrade.

For additional information about how to prepare Windows 98 or Windows Me for an upgrade to Windows XP, click the article number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
