Windows Media / CD Audio To .Wav?

Can I use Windows Media Player (7) to convert CD Audio tracks to .wav files on my hard drive? I know I can copy to CD as .wav, but I only want the tracks on my hard drive for now. Thanks in advance.

I don't pretend to be good at this, Mark, but I don't think you can do it. I gave up on Media Player some time ago. It has an entry to copy one or more tracks to the hard drive, but when I tried it, the file it was in the process of creating was a Winamp (Windows Media?) file of some sort, not a WAV file. And even then, it was SO SLOW on a five minute Dave Brubeck cut I was trying to put on my hard drive that I finally killed it. For a guy who does what you do, you might want to try some other vehicle like Cool Edit Pro, or something like it. Anyone else wanna jump in?

Only because I hadn't tried it for some time, I just went to my REALONE player and asked it to copy one track of a music CD to my hard drive and it worked slick as a whistle. It plays the track(s) as it creates a RealMedia (.RMJ) file on the hard drive, which is probably better than the outlandish size of a .WAV file anyway. I didn't change its defaults, but I believe it WILL let you create the file as either RealMedia, MP3 or WAV.....
