    Combo box (2000)

Hello all, here's my problem I'm hoping someone can help me with:

I am working on changes to a database that tracks scheduled visits by school groups to a museum. There are a number of combo boxes that have been set up to enter the name of the guide, the exhibition they are coming to see, and so on. The problem is that after several years these lists have grown to unwieldy lengths. I created an "inactive" checkbox and made this the new lookup source. The problem is that the if the record has an entry that is "inactive", it is shown as blank on the form. I'm looking for a way to limit the choices for new data, while still showing values that are not a current choice. Any assistance would be greatly appreciaited.

    Thanks much,
    Karl Snyder

    Re: Combo box (2000)

    My <img src=/S/2cents.gif border=0 alt=2cents width=15 height=15>
Add the inactive field to the rowsource of the combo, not visible but sort on this field first. All the actives will be on top of the combo.
Another method would be to put a textbox with a dlookup behind the combobox and make the combobox invisible if it is an inactive item.
