    IF Function in Formula (2000)

    Hi
I don't normally stray out of the Word Lounge but am trying to put together something that must be pretty simple in Excel but I don't know the right terminology so I am hoping someone will take pity on me.

I am trying to calculate how much a variety of Conference attendees are due to pay which depends on whether they are being accompanied by their spouses. I am have got as far as =IF(B7="NUL",B3,B3+B4)

It works OK when there is a spouse name in B7 but not when B7 is empty which leads me to think that ="NUL" is not right

    Any help greatly appreciated

Depends on your data, but how about

    =IF(ISBLANK(B7),B3,B3+B4)

    or

    =B3+ISTEXT(B7)*B4

Thank you so much - needless to say it works a treat. ISBLANK and ISTEXT will both be useful in IF formulae
