    Re: error msg (access 2k)

    Why don't you post your query here so we can see what's possibly wrong with it.
    Do you need to change your
    '[ID=' ".
    to
    '[ID=]' ".

    Try '[ID=' ". to '[ID]=' ". instead.

    your correction appears to logical. now, how do i access the info to make the modification. i just volunteer for an organization, was working on their data base & this error msg suddenly appeared when i clicked on the link (it worked correctly before). i'm not very versed in the details of access.

    Re: error msg (access 2k)

    You have to let us know what is in the query you ran (I presume it was a query).
    Post the SQL of the query.
    Open the query in design view, then right click on the grey area and select SQL, this will show you the query in SQL code.

    Re: error msg (access 2k)

    i'm working from my home, also, using access 97 with the same database rather than access 2000, therefore, this inquery is from 97 but, if necessary, i'll post the query from access 2000 when i have the use of it in a few days. access 97 inquery = "SELECT ReferencedPerson.[Specific Diagnosis of Referenced Person], ReferencedPerson.ReferencedPersonID, ReferencedPerson.[Role of Caller to Referenced Person]
    FROM ReferencedPerson;".

    Re: error msg (access 2k)

    There is nothing wrong with that query as far as I can see. Is it based upon a table or a query?
    If it is based upon a query, then post that query and we will have a look at that.
    Beyond that, just post your database (in A97 or A2000) and tell me what query you were trying to run, that is if you were trying to run a query.

    Re: error msg (access 2k)

    if i understand your question correctly, i guess it's based on a table. i found where a query was run on the database & a link to that query was put on the form. would my making some additions to the form prior to the error msg affect the query, hence, the error msg.? there is no way i can post a db of over 2500 names.

    Re: error msg (access 2k)

    You could email it to me to my profile email address, but that is up to you.
    As I said before there is nothing wrong with the query you posted in post 183646.
    Is ReferencedPerson the name of a table or a query?
    Let's see the query from Access 2000.

    Re: error msg (access 2k)

    I received your A97 database, next time you email a database would you zip it first, it takes a long while to receive.
    Some observations.
    1 Your tables Customers and ReferencedPerson are probably related and so the form Customer should probably have a subform for the ReferencedPerson.
    2 Form Customer.
    Field ID should be ID - Date
    Field Other Phone does not have a field on the table Customers
    Why have a Edit Record button
    Just to be picky you have not defined your tab order yet
    3 Form ReferencedPerson.
    Callers ID should not be a lookup, this is the linking field to Customers (I assume). This is the reason it asks for ID, First Name (should be Firstname) and Last Name (should be LastName).
    4 Table ReferencedPerson.
    Field ID has a lookup, I believe it should be a text box

    I hope this helps you along the way.
