    Phone Dialer won't

Having just spent 3 days re-installing my win2k pc & all software, I find Outlook refuses to use my modem to dial out.
Instead of looking for a modem, it takes .1 seconds to come back with a message "The Call cannot be completed as dialed".
    No other information is offered.

Just using the built in dialler gives an equivalent result.
It looks for all the world like it's trying to use some other telephony device that's not installed, but I swear it's set to use the one & only modem I have installed - which works fine for dialup networking etc.

HELP PLEASE - any suggestions gladly considered.
Is there some other control panel to say what phone dialler should use to dial?.
This has always just worked straight up on every other pc I've setup. :-(

Do you have the 2K drivers for your modem?

Some modems will NOT work with the generic modem drivers, that come with Win 2K.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    You win! :-)
I was about to reply - Yes I'm sure it's installed for win2k, when I realised I'd used the 4 year old drivers from the manufacturer, instead of the generic modem drivers I'd used previously.
So I removed the modem and installed generic win2k drivers and it's fixed :-)
Thanks Dave - gee I love this lounge :-) :-)
    Many many grins :-)
