    Upgrade Home To Pro (XP)

I woulda sworn I saw this somewhere in here, but I'll be danged if I can find it now. A friend has a pretty new laptop that came with XP Home and, because she also uses it at the office, has bought a retail copy of XP Pro to upgrade the machine. She's asked me to help her. Do I boot from the Pro CD and just run the install or do we need to "clean install" from an empty hard drive? Be nice if Pro treats it like a "repair" and doesn't wipe out user data, but I've cautioned her that we ought to backup her personal files, just in case.

BigAl, take a look at this: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/usi...nstallquick.asp. Upshot is you can upgrade right over XPH.
