Stopping Windows from appearing on top (IE 6)

I was just talking with a friend, and we are both being annoyed by the same problem. I can't find any preferences in IE to stop this from happening, so I'm hoping that there's hope here.

We open up several different IE windows at once, and then go do something else (type email, etc) while they load. Well, as each page loads, they become the active window and whatever we were doing gets interrupted and sometimes messed up by these windows appearing. Is there anyway to tell IE to just wait until we click back over to that window and not automatically make itself the active window?

    Thanks.

If you are running XP download and install the Powertoys for XP. Run TweakUI. Click on the General item and select focus. read and take the action you want.

    HI Joe:
I'm curious. I have Win98SE & have TweakUI1.33. There is an option that I've checked that says "prevent applications from stealing focus". It works on just about everything except IE. Have they changed this in XP so that it works with IE?
    Thanks,

Hi Phil, I don't think so. Sometimes it happens to me. Others it doesn't. Can't figure out the pattern. Mostly it works as you'd expect. Sorry I can't be more definitive.

In case you're thing of using the Focus Follows Mouse options, I don't think that helps either. While the options are better in XP (including setting delay before a window takes focus), I've never gotten completely used to it. Windows can still pop up under the mouse, and sometimes my mouse/pointer is in the wrong place. I want one of those machines where the focus follows my eyes...

    P.S. Sometimes I would be satisfied if my eyes would just focus. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
