Convert Windows Explorer file folders to text data

I keep a lot of data organized by peoples' names in individualized (sub)file folders (that I view via Win Explorer) that I would like manipulate in Word or Excell format. My current workaround is the Alt-Print Screen, print hard doc, scan and OCR import approach. (bass-ackward!)

Unfortunately, I don't know where to look for the solution (add-in, view customizing, Word, Explorer, HTML??) on the board, so I am putting it out as a question for those more knowledgable on this kind of intra-species transfer.

    Thank you for any tips.

take a look at http://www.karenware.com/powertools/powertools.asp. There's a directory printer with several options. Karen has got a bunch of good, free utilities there.

I feel I can now die in peace. Karen's Powertool "Directory Printer" does exactly what I was trying to accomplish. You could almost miss the save to disk button, and you need to properly check off items to limit extra garbage info going to text, but this is totally a mission accomplished! .

    Thank you for your assistance.

Re: Convert Windows Explorer file folders to text data

What a helpful utility! All this time, I've been piping to a text file using a DOS command -- example: DIR a:*.* /s>c:mystuffsample.txt

    Thanks.
