Do we need to go back to the forked stick on a open fire? That sounds like fun, it has been a long time since I did that.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Hi Eileen
Human metabolism requires copper as a trace element. In larger quantities (though we're not talking verdigris here, which is highly toxic, but not because of the copper) it is harmful - though this applies to copper compounds and not to the metal itself. I doubt very much that cooking would dissolve enough copper from the metal to cause any noticeable effect. It's a similar thing with lead - the metal is relatively innocuous, but its compounds are very nasty.
The connection between aluminium and Alzheimer's Disease was never proven.
MerC's Contention : Iron cooking pots are the reason Victorian cooks were generally large women with massive biceps.

PS drk : how about a Smilie Cauldron?

Re: IntelliMouse Optical

Having re-read the above posts, I have now come to the following conclusions:

1] Never argue with chemistry teachers or Victorian cooks - they are inevitably better equipped than you are.
2] Don't eat optical mice.

Or any other sort of rodent. Unless you enter your house via a flap in the back door.

Now, about mercury and nickel...

Our little dog never actually ate them; she just snuffled at them and they ran for the hills.

Smilie Cauldron, Simple enough..

My thoughts on all of this.. as mentioned in the other thread... i'm one to maticulously clean my keboardware and cookingware... (not that it matters either way...)

My belief, (which i've been reminded of in this thread) is that no matter what you do in life, you're taking a chance. (eating out of iron or aluminum pots, for example) There are people who live by what they hear, and I find this somewhat sad... That's my opinion... You take chances no matter what you do or where you go, but it's HOW YOU LIVE that's important, not what you're worried or panicked about. If it gives you sense of meaning and direction to bathe with your keyboard, more power to you. To each thier own... I know people who absolutely LOVE thier computers, and may find this acceptable on principle! Personally, I can attribute it much in the same way people look at reading in the evenings, or watching T.V, it relaxes me, so that's how I handle it... Metaphorically, each key is a little problem I have to overcome, at the end of the project, I have 102+ successes, and that gets me ready for the next 102+ problems i'll face in life... Keep it simple, smile, love yer neighbor, be happy, yadda, yadda, yadda!

Hi drk
Brilliant cauldron. Can we have it in the list as [stirring] or something similar? If you've the time, we could do with a [yawn] as well. There is 'doze' but it's not quite the same thing.
Not sure I agree with all your points in the last post. If someone tells me 'x is poisonous' and I've no reason to believe he's fooling me, I'll take his word for it. I'm neither foolhardy enough to try it myself, nor enough of a psychopath to try it on somebody else. (I might be callous enough to try it on a woodlouse). However, I see what you're getting at. Often people make remarks on the lines of 'that film/computer program/whatever' is rubbish, but I have found it enjoyable. Similarly the other way round. I personally hate 'soaps' and smoking, for instance, but as long as they don't affect me, I wouldn't consider banning them. That's what I was trying to say when I called you 'pragmatic' : never mind what the pundits say, let me see what happens if... (Fine as long as the consequences aren't potentially fatal!)
