    Dimming the Screen

Not sure if this is possible. I have a Sony laptop Viao and the screen seems a little on the bright side. I've used the function key and dimmed the view to the full extent, but the colors still do not come come through well. Is it possible, via software, to dim the brightness further? Thanks.

    Re: Dimming the Screen

This depends on the capabilities provided by your video drivers. Some video drivers will allow you to adjust many aspects of the screen - gamma correction, color intensity, and often more. To see if your current driver supports any of these capabilities simply open your display properties (right-click on your desktop - then select Properties), select the Settings tab, then click the Advanced button at the bottom-right. (Some of this may vary depending on your OS version.) If the feature is supported you'll find it in one of the Advanced tabs. In some cases you'll have to click on the Adapter tab, then click the properties button.

If you aren't satisfied with the built-in capabilities, you may be able to find some 3rd party utilities that will give you similar functionality. I'm sure others will have some ideas on this if necessary.
