Web Page Access Error (IE6)

Using Windows2000, MSIE6SP1 and cable connection, I frequently get the following access error when opening web pages:

ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://www.clubaquatica.com/AQ3_scen...nery_index.htm

The following error was encountered:

Access Denied.
Access control configuration prevents your request from being allowed at this time. Please contact your service provider if you feel this is incorrect.

A good example of this strange behavior is opening HotMail. After opening normally, when attempting to block/delete spam in the InBox I frequently get an Access Error. If I thereafter send a message the block/delete boxes will open properly. In addition, it seems that web pages (but not all) are opening slowly or opening erratically.....Can anyone help with this problem.....Thanks....btw, my cable operator claims no one else is having this problem......

Re: Web Page Access Error (IE6)

Had you recently updated IE when this problem started? Updates frequently reset security and privacy settings, so that would be the first thing to try. Go to Tools | Internet Options | Security and check what your current settings are. Try experimenting by adding the sites you are having problems with to the trusted zone to see if that helps. You may want to reduce the overall level of security (from High to Medium, for example), recognizing that you must have a good firewall and AV protection in place first. Some pages also do not operate properly when you have disabled cookies - to get around that problem, my settings prompt me each time a site wishes to place a cookie in my folder, and I can allow or disallow them as I see fit (Tools | Internet Options | Privacy | Web Sites - Edit...). Give that shot and let us know how you make out.

Re: Web Page Access Error (IE6)

I tried your suggestions with no success. However, I subsequently tried opening web pages with my POP3 account and they seemed to open normally The focus now is my cable provider as the problem and I'll let you know if that is the source of the problem. BTW, in addition the Access Denial error some page links didn't fully open (just page frames)....this occurred when running the link to respond to your message, first a Access Denial message, then not fully opened page links and finally the Reply To page I'm working on now is looks fully opened!!!

Thanks again....

Yes, well, I do pride myself on being helpful by providing no assistance whatsoever . Good luck with the cable people!

Re: Web Page Access Error (IE6)

Hi Keely. Do you know where I can find the option to Refresh every visit to the page?

I used to know where it was but my memory's failed me. Every time I open IE6 I have to hit the Refresh button before the page will load completly.

One other thing. Where can I post a problem with Aim 95 (AOL's Instant Messenger)?

Re: Web Page Access Error (IE6)

I think I got the problem fixed. Apparently a recently installed program, NetSuperSonic (a download accelerator tweaker), tuned MSIE to open more than 10 connections (probably the cable ISP limit) at the same time. Setting the open connections to four, the default seems to have fixed the problem.......In any case, thanks for the assistance......

As for AIM problems, I can only assume that AOL has some kind of forums, FAQs and tech support in their little world. I don't do AOL, so I can't help you there. Sorry!
