Detect and Repair (Office XP Pro)

My Outlook "broke" for no particular reason that I could figure out so I used the Detect and Repair process on the Help Menu. Office XP re-configured itself and Outlook worked again. But my question is does the Detect and Repair process replace corrupted files with the original files and if so do I now have to load Office XP fixes Sp1 and Sp2 again to fix any vulnerabilities of the original?

No, you don't. WIndows Installer keeps copies of all updates (in WindowsInstaller folder) and automatically updates all older files. You can open any Office program and check Help | About... and you will see "SP2" in the program version line.
