    Quantum HD Warranty

Is there any warranty on Quantum HD's. I am working on a friend's HP Pavilion and the HD crashed. It is a Quantum Fireball lct. Computer is less than 2 years old. Any suggestions where I can find any warranty info. I did find some comments that Quantum is out of business???

    Re: Quantum HD Warranty

Unfortunately, the chances are pretty good that you're out of luck on this one, It's not likely that Quantum would offer any warranty exceeding 90 days on the harddrive, if at all. HP may have contracts to support all hardware on the machine, since they opt to sell the 'bundled' package, but in most cases, simply opening the system box is enough to void the warranty.

Your best bet would be to contact HP and see if they have warranty info. A quick search on google returns very little on Quantum Hard Drives, (outside of the used components world) and I think I vaugly remember hearing about their hard-drive division being shut-down. http://www.quantum.com gives us alot of server-side solutions, but nothing directly Hard-Drive related... <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>

I hope this helps! You can try a low-level format to see if you can bring the disk back to life, (at least operationally) but the chances are very good that it would fail again, very soon.
