    types (VB6)

    Hello again

    I am trying to use the mciSendString command in order to play back media files but am running into a problem. So far I have been able to determine the TYPES of files only for a few of the extensions available but not for the ones I really want.

    For instance:

    Avi = AviVideo
    Wav = WaveAudio
    Mid= Sequencer

    where the right hand side is the TYPE that you have to send into the MciSendString command.

    What are the TYPES for mpg and mp3 though?? Where can you find this, I tried looking in the help but I find VB6 help very confusing....kind of ironic isn't it?

    Thanks

    Re: types (VB6)

    mpg, mpeg, mpe mpa, mp2, mp3 are all of the Type: MPEGVideo

    Start RegEdit and do a search for "MCIHandler" to find them under the key
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMultimedia
    There's a tone of them that are handled by the MPEGVideo type.

    Check this site; http://www.planet-source-code.com/vb/scrip...83&lngWId=1#zip for an API solution to playing multimedia stuff. haven't downloaded the files but this may help get you going with other issues you may be trying to solve....
    Later,
    Bruce
