No header, footer and pagenumber option in menu (97 (2000))

    Hello all,

An user here has a document that was created in Word 2000 and opened for editing in Word 97 but the menu options for Header and footer or inserting pagenumbers are gone from the menu. (I also changed the compatibility to Word 97, but no difference)
When copying the tekst to a new document the menu's are correct.

    What is happening here?

It sounds like a template is acting on the file to hide these menu items.

Is the document a template? Try attaching a template to it to find out. You can't attach a template to a template.

If the file itself is not a template, what template is attached? Detach that and tell me whether the menu items return.

    Hello Andrew,

    You are a genius..... Thanks
The document was attached to the email.dot template. By removing the template the menu options returned.
