When to install Win XP service pack1 ? (Win XP Professional)

Having just installed SP1 to my laptop running XP Pro, I've noticed a few anomalies in performance that seemed quicker than before.

The point of my post is to ask this question:

If I completely rebuild my machine when should I install SP-1. Should it be immediately after installing the base of XP pro before I install any apps or office service packs or should I install apps and the two Office XP service packs before installing the new SP-1?

Common sense would dictate that I install SP-1 first. After all, if I received a new machine with the SP-1 build on it I'd be forced into installing Office and its subsequent service packs second etc.

thanks in advance for any helpful advice !

Install XP SP-1 before apps and Office, etc. Any proper installer will recognize newer components and not replace them. You want you rOS to be as up-to-date and solid as possible before adding other 'stuff' to your system.
