    Network File Source VB6 (VB6)

    Hi and Help!

I wrote a program to do some tracking. Originally it was to be used by one individual, now however, I'm told that there may be 3 or 4 people using it. The program stores data in an Excel spreadsheet, copies the data to a pre-formatted sheet in the same workbook, to be printed. I want the Excel spreadsheet to reside on their Lan, I fear that there will be times when two people will run the program and a conflict will arise in the Excel spreadsheet. How can I tell if the spreadsheet is already open and prevent the second person from running the program?

(I use App.PrevInstance to prevent running twice on the same machine.)

    Any and all help appreciated.

    Thanks
    John

    Thanks Bruce,

I checked out that thread and it doesn't appear to resolve anything for me.

If person A runs the program, and person B then tries to run it, I'd like to be able to pop up a message box saying that the program is already runnning and prevent person B from continuing.

I would like to prevent B from opening the spreadsheet.

    ??? I'm stumped.
