    What Is C:\RECYCLED Folder?

I have a folder named RECYCLED on my C: drive containing 146 sub-folders and 1,896 files using up 149MB of space. My Recycle Bin is empty. The sub-folders are all named DC* (with * being a number), and one folder is named DC*.DIR. What is this RECYCLED folder all about? Can I safely delete these files and folders? Thanks. Robert Storms
