Blue Screen of Death (WinME )

Please help. I'm constantly getting the blue screen of death when using IE 5.5!!! This just started tonight and the "Rundll32 error" pops up and then the blue screen with "File name: VWIN32(05) + 000012D0 ERROR : 0E : 0028 : C02A44A" Any ideas as to how to fix? It doesn't happen when I'm using Word or Excel or any other program. Just IE Thanks...

Perhaps "repair" IE. Go to add/remove programs and tick the appropriate button.

That is almost identical to the error that I have been getting for some time now (see Post 176338 - VWIN32 BSOD on WinME). I did install the SP1 update last night and hope that this might have supplied the necessary cure.

David--
Please let us know if SP1 cured your problem.

Unfortunately, it is one of those problems that you only know it has been cured if it doesn't happen - but just because it doesn't happen doesn't necessarily mean it has been fixed. If I don't get blue-screened within the next day or so though I'll take it as a good sign.

I re-installed IE 5.5 and still get the blue screen. I think I'll try SP-2... I'll let you know. How's your system working?

Jrebenack--
Is XPSP1 the download you are looking for which includes which includes SP1 for IE6 or if you are using IE 5.5? SP2 for IE5.5.
If you have IE 5.5 why don't you upgrade to IE6.0. I'm not sure which OS you're using IE 5.5 with--from the title it must be ME.

Re: Blue Screen of Death (WinME )

I was beginning to get hopeful after running clear for a few hours last night and some more tonight... but I just got hit with it again. Sooooo... apparently the IE upgrade wasn't the 'cure' that I had hoped it would be.

I do recall seeing a reference to rundll32 in this thread, and if I am not mistaken it relates to dial up networking? Perhaps that is another aspect to look into and maybe check those system files.

I ran SP-1 to no avail and then ran SP-2 and it seems to have solved all of my problems. I'm not sure if it was the SP-2 upgrade or something else, but I'm not complaing. Life is much better now... Thanks, everyone!!!
