    Auto Update Comments (Excel 97-SR2)

    Hi Folks

Without using VBA, is it possible to dynamically update a cell comment?

Imagine a diary function, displaying in weeks from A through Z... Elsewhere I have the facility to record key events, with their target dates. What I would like to is push/amend a comment in the top line of the diary view if the event is scheduled to occur during that week.

I can see how to use a cell to offer this feauture, however a pop up note/comment is more appropriate for this model.

    As usual, any suggestions welcome.

    Regards
    Peter

Does it have to be a comment?

it seems like you could just a "Picture" object linked to a cell. and whatever that cell has the picture shows. the cell that is linked could have a formula which has a null string or TEXT to displayed based on a criteria.

As far as I know, the only two ways to change a cell comment are manually or with VBA.
