    Determine files/directories added since <date>

    Is anyone aware of an NT4/W2K/WXP program which would rapidly pull out a list of those directories and files which have been added or changed since a user-supplied date? This would be used on a cluster server with about a million files on it.

    DIR is too slow and cumbersome, and I'd have to filter the results by date;
    XCOPY has a /D date parameter, but won't let me copy the files to NUL;
    TreeSize is much too detailed too slow for this specific requirement.

    All bright ideas gratefully received!

    Have you tried the Find dialog.

    I use it all the time in NT4 to do what you seem to be asking

    OK so far as it goes, but I need to have a <font color=blue>text file</font color=blue> containing the results!

    Hi John:
    Don't know if it works in NT, but I've been using a free utility called Filegrab from PC Magazine, that allows you to drop & drag files from the Find dialog box & from Explorer onto their window. It then gives you a text file with the filename, path, etc.. You can check it out here

    Thanks, Phil, but I really want just a command-line utility which will whizz through the file system and give me something like a DIR list of the files I want. Sticking something into a GUI will slow it down, I fear...

    You may want to try ZTree from http://www.ztree.com, it is the replacement for XTree for those of us that have been ariund since the DOS day.

    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    . . . or you may even find Powerdesk may do what you need.
    With the free version, you can do a complete drive listing with certain criteria - such as later than a date created/amended - and copy the result to the clipboard . . .
