    Is C a reserved Name? (2002)

Excel won't let me define C as a name for a range.

Yes C is a reserved name (as is R) as well as anything that looks like a valid cell reference (A1, B23 etc).

It is used for RC nomenclature.

You might also discover that "C" (or "R") followed by a number is not ALLOWED as a range name, even if followed by letters: C1ABC is invalid (due RC nomenclature) even though they do not look like cell references.
