    No, you need to get in to the "administrator" account.
    If you have TweakUI you can go in a turn on this account in the 'Login' pane, next to the last of the list, and add a check mark to the administrator account. Then log out as the current user and then log in as the administrator. Now try and install the printer.

    One question, did you read the instructions for the new printer? Some of the new devices will require that the software and drivers to be installed before attaching the device, if NOT the software will NOT install propertly.

    If you did NOT follow the instructions, go to the HP website and look for the Help and support. They will need to walk you through, on how to get things going.

    Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
