    Saved file won't open (97 SR-2)

I'm having a problem with a file I have used for years. Just recently when I go to change something or add rows of more data the file accepts it at the time but later when I go to retreive the file a message says "Unable to open file". Is there a maximum size for a worksheet or maximum rows ? I am at 867k and DV respectively. Thanx.

I strongly suspect your file is corrupted somehow.

You could try and find the culprit by:

    1 making a backup
    2 opening the file
    3 delete a sheet
4 save and close and reopen
5 try to get the error again
6 If you get the error, repeat from step 3

When the sheet is found, narrow down by starting to delete rows and/or columns in that sheet, e.g. start off by deleting half of the rows, if OK, delete half of the half you deleted before, etcetera.

Another option would be to save the file in a different format. Try HTML first.
    If OK, well, OK!

Thank you very much Pieter. That was the problem and your solution saved me I don't know how much work. Thanx again.
