    2 out of 3 Ain't Good

For months I have had a stable home wireless LAN working through an SMC Barricade Router which has a printer attached. All three computers successfully print and access a cable internet service through this router. PC #1 has a wire connection to the router and to a second printer. It is an XP Pro with MS firewall unabled but with Norton AV and ZoneaAlarm Pro. PC #2 is a Win98 with Norton AV and a D-Link Card. PC #3 is a Gateway laptop WinME with SMC card and Norton AV. Using the XP set up wizard I quickly and easily set up share folders between #1 & #2 via a setup disk generated through WinXP. Flawless. Works fine. Last weekend I tried to enable s <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15> haring with #3 using the same technique. Everything appears to properly execute but we cannot find #3 nor can #3 find the other two. What do I do now? This is now a Dad thing with a consternated daughter. Help.

I hate these type of problems. If you have not, I would remove the laptop from the network, uninstall the network information, then uninstall the LAN drivers. Next reinstall the LAN drivers, then reinstall the network via the XP disk.
I had an complete working network for 6 weeks, then one day no Internet Connections Sharing at all. All of the drivers were still there but no ICS. Complete reinstall of all but the ICS main PC solved the problem. Yes I put in about 4 weeks of checking out the system before the reinstalls.
