Outlook running real slow (2002/ SP1)

The wifes Outlook takes about 5 seconds to open a message. It also takes about the same amount of time to get any selection, i.e., menu, message, folder and etc, to get hilighted and action taken. This happens ONLY in Outlook and on only her machine. We have run the scanpst and the compactor with no real improvement.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Hi Dave,
You don't have journalling turned on by any chance?
I recall an article in Woody's in tha past month or so about Outlook becoming big and slow, and how to re-create. Unfortunately I haven't had enuf time to locate this for you.

Well, that's he obvious out of the way! I felt that you would have checked these.
Another couple of thoughts, do you have a virus scan going on in the background? or if there are rules, what happens if all of these are turned off? or is sycnchronisation tuned on?

AV yes, same as other machines, Rules and sycnchronisation NO. I have tried with Nortons AV 2003 turned off no difference. As a last resort we will rebuild a new PST and inport what she has now.

I have had the same problem. Untick rules, restart outlook, tick the rules, and restart outlook. This has worked on several pc's I have worked on.
