Auto Fill in Forms (6.0.2800)

When I go to a form, and go to the first field - "Your First Name", IE has the entry "your first name" in the field. It mimics the field names for each field in a form.
Because of this, I have to delete the entries before I fill them in.
How do I stop this?

Using Win98SE

Click on Tools, Internet Options.

Click on the Content tab, then click 'AutoComplete'. Uncheck 'Forms'.

That should resolve your problem.

Kel,
Thank you for your reply. I did clear that entry several months ago and it didn't help. The problem is that it isn't entering data such as "Eli" in the "My First Name" field. It's entering "my first name".

You might try killing your cookies... Clearing the forms behind the autocomplete feature should be fixing it, unless you have another add-on (I know Gator sponsored one a while back) that automatically completes your forms for you, outside of I.E.

Add-on is a good thought. Do you have any other "AutoComplete" programs like gator installed?

Then, can you post a screen shot of how this looks on a form page?? Thanks.

Unfortunatly, NO. In most cases, these are bundled with spyware, where shady marketing companies monitor one's browsing habits for monetary gain. Your best bet would be to download and install AdAware, to see if you have anything like this installed. A clean re-install of I.E. *might* clear out any remnants if you still have the problem after this.
