    Administrator Mailbox

Exchange Server 5.5 SP4, SBS edition. Logged on to the domain as a member of the domain administrators group. Using Outlook 2000, mail system working fine, but i can't open the Adminstrator mailbox. I can add it in Tools - Services - Exchange Server - Advanced, and it appears in the folder hierarchy. But when i click on the folder, it says "Unable to display the folder, the operation failed." I have as far as i know, set full permissions in the Exchange Admin program.

    Any ideas please???

Peter, did you log on as Administrator, not as a user with Administrator rights?

    Re: Administrator Mailbox

    Hi Paul

No i didn't. I have made a little progress by discovering that if i assign rights to the admin mailbox to "all users", i can open it. What i don't understand is if i am a domain admin anyway, then surely i should automatically have those rights?? I was always taught not to use the admin logon, but to create a user who has all the admin rights...

    Re: Administrator Mailbox

I had a look at my groups on our 2000 server and I am a member of the following: Administrators, Back Up Operators, Domain Administrators; Domain Users; Print Operators; Server Operators; Workstation.
On the exchange server, the Administrator mailbox has the domain administrator ID as that with permisiions,
with the following Rights ticked; Modify User Attributes; Send As; Mailbox Owner; In my account I have set all boxes ticked.
