    I find this news rather disappointing.

    For the last three years, I've been hoping that MS is developing a full-blown XML editor as a new part of the Office suite.

    My guess was that this editor would start out rather simple and limited, but would slowly replace Word.

    One screenshot and some marketing speak may be little to base an opinion on, but this thingy they have announced doesn't look like that.
    It looks like a great tool to key in simple XML records, but it doesn't look like something you can use for XML data that needs more than one screen to display (that is, the typical data you have in Word).

    This interview with Tim Bray in the XML journal makes hope for XML support in the next version of Word.

    Still can't imagine how that'll work without major changes and incompatibilities with earlier versions, but I try not to be so pessimistic any more <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>
