    Printing selected pages (2000/9.0.3821 SR1)

I have a document that has 37 "real" pages--that is, it needs 19 sheets of paper, and most of the document is printed on both sides of the sheet. The first three pieces of paper do not have page numbers. I started with page number 1 on what would otherwise be page 7. I found an error on the first numbered page ("Page 1") after I had printed the first copy. I fixed the problem and then tried to print that page and all the pages that follow. The status bar say I'm on page 7 of 37 pages, so I told the printer to print pages 7-37. To my dismay, the printer proceeded to print starting with the actual numbered "page 7" and skipped pages 1-6!!

OK...I then went back to print numbered pages 1-6. Inasmuch as the printer had interpreted my pages 7-37 to mean the NUMBERED pages 7 and following, I told the printer this time to print pages 1-6. Guess what: It started printing with the cover page this time!! I see an inconsistency here, but I'll be a monkey's uncle if I can understand why the print dialog behaves this way! I tried to find clues in Word Help, but I guess I don't know which secret word to use to find the answer. <img src=/S/crazy.gif border=0 alt=crazy width=15 height=15>

Does your document have two sections, one with the first 6 pages and the other starting at page 7?

If so then try (for example) printing S2P1 - S2P3 (Section 2 page 1 to section 2 page 3) to print pages 7 to 9

Stuart: Oh, yes--I've got several sections. And now that you've so kindly pointed me in the right direction, I finally found the documentation for this subject in Help. D'oh!

    Many thanks! <img src=/S/salute.gif border=0 alt=salute width=15 height=20>
