    Outlook (2002 SP-2)

In "WOW #7.47 - Lies, spy codes, XDocs and more lies" of 10/8/02 Woody mentions that by using FILE / CLOSE when several Outlook windows are opened (i.e. Calendar, Contacts and Inbox) the next time Outlook is started it remembers to re-open the windows. That sounds great and I would love to use this capability, the trouble is, my Outlook FILE menu does NOT have a "CLOSE" but only a "CLOSE ALL ITEMS" which does not do anything at all apparently and certainly does not close the entire application.
Does anyone know a way to have "CLOSE" show up in the FILE menu?
    Thank you.

I found the same problem. However, by double-clicking on the Outlook icon on the left-hand side, rather than the x on the right-hand side, it achieved the same result, i.e. when opening it remembered to re-open the Windows. Hope this helps.

    Re: Outlook (2002 SP-2)

Thank you for the tip but it does not work for me because: Double clicking on the upper left Outlook icon only closes one Outlook window at at time, so if one has three windows opened one needs to close each in turn; then when restarting Outlook, the main window comes up without requesting a password and then closes immediately, necessitating a second instance of launching Outlook which then opens (after requesting the password) with a maximum of two windows, not three.

I'm not on SP2, but I find File > Exit appears to give the desired result.

    Leif,
Great. That seems to do the trick and all windows are re-opened when Outlook is relaunched.
    Thank you.

I have the same version of OL you have and when I want to leave something open, like another user's folder, I do not close their folder, I only exit from OL by clicking on the X in the corner. When I open OL again, the other folder is already open. I hope this helps.

Thank you. What works for me now is to close Outlook with File/Close, not by clicking on the upper right X.
